Angels' Tears

VINTAGE: 1997

BLEND: 50% Muscat de Alexandrie and 50% Chenin Blanc

ORIGIN: Franchhoek/Stellenbosch

DESCRIPTION: Ever popular blend, made off-dry. This wine has a lovely fragrant Muscat nose backed up by a full palate, with a crisp dry fruity finish. Great picnic sipping wine. Compliments turkey and spicy foods.

CLIMATE: Mediterranean - dry warm summers and cold wet winters.

TRELLISING: Chenin Blanc - trellised Perold 5 wire

SOIL: Sandy soils, with underlying clay layer for Chenin Blanc, location is on the cool upper Franschhoek's slopes and valley floor. The Muscat is grown in sandy soil and situated on a very slight (5%) south facing slope.

YIELD: Chenin Blanc - 10-12 tons/ha; Muscat - 9 tons/ha

VINIFICATION: Whole bunch pressing, cool fermentation with neutral, varietal enhancing yeasts completed in 12-14 days. Minimal interference. Reductive winemaking methods used. Bottled under carbon dioxide gas to prevent oxygen contact. No wood maturation.

Alcohol: 12.5% / Vol

pH: 3.60

Total Acidity: 5.6

Sugar: 14.0
