Bobotie
Soak bread in 1/2 cup milk, until soft, then mash with fork. Saute onion, add curry and seasonings, and cook for 2 minutes. Add lemon juice, bread, sugar, almonds, and ground beef. Cook until beef is browned, then transfer to a greased pie pan and smooth. Beat eggs and remaining milk, pour over meat. Arrange bay leaves on top and bake at 320 deg. F for 30 minutes. Serve with rice, chutney, sliced bananas and sambal, which is a tangy Malayan condiment. (4-6 servings) Wine suggestion: Boland Pinotage
