Fairview Pinot Gris

VINTAGE: 1996

ORIGIN: Paarl

CLIMATE: Mediterranean - dry warm summers and cold wet winters with an annual rainfall of about 700 mm

SOIL: Light, sandy soil

DESCRIPTION: A light, dry wine with a soft, delicately fruity flavor. This wine has a low alcohol and average acidity which provides the necessary balance. Drinkable while young, but can be kept for 2 to 3 years.

TRELLISING: Four wire split cordon

YIELD: 7 tons/ha

VINIFICATION: Grapes are harvested relatively early at 21'B. Whole clusters harvested and fermented dry. The wine is left on the lees, fined and bottled.

CHEMICAL ANALYSIS:

Alcohol : 11,6% / Vol

pH: 3.3

Total acidity: 5.7 g/l

Sugar: 1.7 g/l
