Simonsvlei Winery

Simonsvlei Winery is one of South Africa's leading wine producers and exporters. It was established in 1945 by Sonny le Roux, who was determined to provide the area's farmers with the facilities and expertise to produce high quality wines.

This tradition continues with a full-time vinticulturist employed by Simonsvlei who helps direct vineyard management of its 60 supplying members. Mr. le Roux's vision has been fulfilled, and excellent wines at affordable prices are the hallmark of this winery.

Simonsvlei wines originate from the "Paarl," region, which is Dutch for "pearl." Simonsvlei's range of wines include delicate dry and semi-sweet whites, matured reds and full-bodied dessert wines. Pinotage carries three Simonsvlei wines:

Simonsvlei Winery is a winner of the President Nelson Mandela Export Achievement award in agricultural for two years in a row. Simonsvlei also received the most Superior Awards ever granted to one cellar in one day in the history of the South African wine industry. At the Paarl Young Wine show, it has earned more medals and won more classes than any other producer. It was also the first regional producer to have its wines selected for the internationally famous Nederburg Wine Auction.

Simonsvlei has invested in small casks of new French oak, and modern bag presses achieve gentler pressing. Skin contact is limited and mashed cooling is practiced. They have a fully equipped laboratory to help keep quality control at an exceptionally high level.
