Rooiberg Winery

Rooiberg Winery was established in 1964 by 11 farmers in the Robertson District. It now has 34 members contributing from individual farms, under the guidance of the Rooiberg manager/cellar master.

Rooiberg Winery has one of the most extensive ranges of wines of the highest quality and value. The continued tradition of excellence can be directly attributed to the dedication and skill of Rooiberg's winemakers.

Pinotage carries four Rooiberg wines:

Shiraz

Rhine Riesling

Port

Chardonnay

The Rooiberg cellar is situated approximately 60 miles from Cape Town, on the road between Worcester and Robertson. This cellar has won an impressive array of awards. Set against the backdrop of the Langeberg Mountains, the impressive cellar and modern tasting venue are surrounded by the wine producing areas of Vinkrivier and Eilandia.

The vineyards have been planted mainly on narrow strips of fertile soil along the Vink and Breede rivers. Variations in climate and soil types, ranging from loam to heavy Karoo and alluvial soils, have the added advantage of creating a diverse range of wines of exceptional quality.

Rooiberg uses new oak casks for aging of white wines. Some white wines are fermented in stainless steel tanks at 14 deg. (C). Red wines are matured in oak. Rooiberg has some of the most modern cooling machines in the industry to prepare their quality wines.
